A small oil study of the life within a moving cloud Working on this for days in the studio after an initial outdoor beginning I realised just how tiny the canvas was considering the amount of sky I was trying to fit inside it! …but if it takes a bit longer to paint then so […]
Paintings of clouds
In the final stages now.
The landscape of the Earn Valley is impressive. The clouds living above it are often even more so.
This rainbow hung around for far longer than most. Even so, it was still only in existance for 10 minutes or maybe a bit more
I got a good run at this cloud painting over the past few days and finished it.
Just completed – North Sea from the Earth House 24x30ins.
A cloud painting in progress which uses this earlier small outdoor oil sketch as source material.
River Tay Cloud Study – cloud painting, 8x10ins. oil on canvas Based on an earlier painting in an attempt to take it a bit further while still staying with the theme. Anyone living on this shore of the Tay knows the wind and the clouds too.
Blue Sky and Cloud Study 2
Shouldn’t be long now to finish this one. It’s progressing slowly (but at least steadily!) with a gradual working out of the shapes and shadows within the light.
Blue Sky and Cloud Study 2. The second in a series of similarly themed small paintings.
Blue sky and cloud….the first of a series of similarly themed small oil paintings.
Drawn out in a light pencil sketch and then sculpted out with thin oil paint to accentuate the main shapes and movement within the composition.
I’ve just finished this painting. Directly painted onto the canvas in one session which is quite unusual for me.
